Revit Architecture – Interview Questions & Answers

What is Revit Architecture?

·         Revit Architecture is a BIM (Building Information Modeling) software used for planning, designing, constructing, and managing buildings using intelligent 3D models.

What is BIM in Revit?

·         BIM stands for Building Information Modeling. It is a process of creating and managing digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of a building.

Difference between AutoCAD and Revit?

·         AutoCAD is a drafting software mainly used for 2D drawings, while Revit is a BIM software that creates intelligent 3D models with data and automatic coordination.

What are Families in Revit?

·         Families are reusable components like doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures that contain geometry and parameters.

Types of Families in Revit?

·         There are three types: System Families, Loadable Families, and In-Place Families.

What is a Parametric Model?

·         A parametric model allows changes in one element to automatically update related elements.

What is a Workset?

·         Worksets are used in worksharing to allow multiple users to work on the same Revit project simultaneously.

What is a View Template?

·         A View Template controls the appearance and settings of views to maintain consistency across drawings.

What is the use of Levels and Grids?

·         Levels define vertical heights and Grids help align columns and structural elements.

What is Phasing in Revit?

·         Phasing is used to show different stages of construction such as existing, demolition, and new construction.

What is Clash Detection?

·         Clash detection identifies conflicts between different building elements like architecture, structure, and MEP.

What is the use of Schedules?

·         Schedules extract data from the model such as door schedules, window schedules, and quantity takeoffs.

What is Rendering in Revit?

·         Rendering is the process of creating realistic images using materials, lighting, and camera views.

What are Design Options?

·         Design Options are used to explore and present multiple design alternatives within the same project.

What is IFC in Revit?

·         IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is an open file format used to share BIM data between different software.
